Kent L. Berry, 59, of Bondurant passed away November 21, 2015. A memorial service was held Tuesday at Ankeny Presbyterian Church. Visitation took place Monday at the church. An additional memorial service will take place in Onaway. Arrangements will be announced.

Kent is survived by his wife, Laurie; children, Nicholos Berry, Justine (Erik) LaLonde, Sara (Mario) Gingerich, and Julia (Mark) Fulton; grandchildren, Ashleigh (12), Isabel (2), Kamryn (16), Megan (13), Katie (13), Eli (6), Marco (4) and grandpuppy, Jude; 10 brothers and sisters; and many special nieces, nephews and extended family and friends who love and miss him very much.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bondurant Fundraising Friends, Hope Animal Rescue or Ankeny Presbyterian Church.

Thomas Francis Donajkowski, 47, of Canton passed away November 24, 2015. He was born July 26, 1968 in Flint to Richard and Madeline (LaMay) Donajkowski.

Tom is survived by his mother, Madeline Donajkowski of Posen; two sisters, Tamyra (John) Bober of Rogers City and Tonette (Scott) Derry of Cheboygan; four nieces and nephews; and three great-nieces and nephews.

Clarence C. “Sonny” Lauer Jr., 83, of Huron Beach passed away November 27, 2015 at McLaren Northern Michigan.

He was born in Akron, Ohio to Clarence and Dora (Powers) Lauer.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; two sons, James of Canfield, Ohio and John (Lori) of Las Vegas, Nevada; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter, Kinley Rose.

Visitation was at the Beck Funeral Home Tuesday, December 1, through time of funeral with the Rev. Carmen Cook officiating. Rogers City Veterans of Foreign Wars accorded full military honors.

Interment took place at the Cross in the Woods Cemetery in Indian River.

Marcia A. Bosley, 50, of Rogers City passed away peacefully Friday afternoon November 27, 2015 at her home.

The daughter of LaVern and Theresa (Paquin) Alexander was born April 17, 1965 in St. Ignace.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; her mother, Theresa Alexander of Cheboygan; a son, Ryan (Stacey) of Marquette; a granddaughter, Madison; a sister, Tina (Jerry) Malloy; a brother, LaVerne (Tina) Alexander all of Cheboygan; and several nieces, nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Clara B. Mulka, 89, of Rogers City passed away November 23, 2015 at Tendercare of Alpena.

She was born May 31, 1926 in Rogers City to John and Bernice (Filarski) Schefke.

On June 16, 1947 she married Jerome “Harry” Mulka at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Posen.

She is survived by her five children, Virginia Fults of Gaylord, Jerome (Della) of Sterling Heights, Dennis (Peggy) of Mattawan, Susan Stenseng of Inkster and Mary Lijewski of Traverse City; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren “on the way”; one sister Theresa (James) Ohlrich of Alpena; and one brother Leonard (Jackie) Schefke of Alpena.

Visitation was at the Beck Funeral Home Friday where the Rosary Society and Daughters of Isabella recited the rosary followed by the parish wake service. The family said their final farewells Saturday with Mass at St. Ignatius Catholic Church with the Rev. Sylvestre Obwaka officiating.

Interment took place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made “per your choice” in memory of Clara Mulka.

Marsha R. Preston, 64 of Houghton Lake passed away Wednesday November 25, 2015 with her loving family by her side.

Marsha was born May 12, 1951 in Mt. Clemens to Charles W. & Stephanie E. (Weglarz) Christy.  She married Michael L. Preston in 1996 in Onaway.

Marsha is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Michael Preston of Houghton Lake; daughters, Erika (Jeff) Breault of Gladwin and Julie (Kurt) Gilbert of Prudenville; step-children, Amy (Cari) Becker of Unionville, Kristy (Ron) Green of Onaway and Michael Preston of Florida; 10 grandchildren; and a brother, Donald (Becky) Christy of Pinconning.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday December 12, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel. The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Jay Clark Norman, 65, of Onaway, died Friday, December 4, 2015 at the Cheboygan campus of McLaren Northern Michigan.

He is survived by a brother, Richard Norman of Warren, two sisters, Lois Ringe of Harrison and Janice (Al) Bosman of Virginia; sister-in-law, Kay Norman of Lupton; a nephew, Butch (Veronica) Norman of Onaway; as well as many other nieces and nephews.

It was Jay’s wish that no funeral or memorial service take place following his death. Cremation arrangements were in care of the Chagnon Funeral Home.

Gerald D. Finch, 83, of Onaway, formerly of Afton, died Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Nash’s Adult Foster Care Home.

He is survived by his two sons, Stephen (Jennie) Finch of Gaylord and Thomas A. Finch of Fife Lake; and six grandchildren.

Gerald’s final resting place will be in Tower at Forest Lawn Cemetery.  Cremation arrangements were in care of the Chagnon Funeral Home.

She was born December 4, 1967 in Lapeer to Roy and Donna (Beebe) Berry.

Mary is survived by her husband, Larry; two daughters, Tiffany of Ocqueoc and Stephanie of Afton; three grandchildren; and parents, Roy and Donna.

Albert C. Van Hoorne, 85, of Sparta, formerly of Cheboygan passed away November 17, 2015 at Metro Hospital in Wyoming.

He is survived by his wife, Christina Van Hoorne; 11 children, Richard, Lawrence, Barbara, Kathy, Charles, Kim, Raymond, Patricia, Lisa, Alberta and Deborah; seven stepchildren, Allan Berry, Malo Berry, Scott Berry, Ryan Berry, Gale (Scott) Parr, Colleen (Roger) Sedell and Elaine (Mike) Koren; 52 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Sandra Van Hoorne.

Lawrence S. Veihl, 77, lifelong resident of Tower, died Monday December 7, 2015 at home.  The son of Ervin and Anna (Bernia) Veihl, Lawrence was born in Tower April 14, 1938.

Surviving Lawrence is his wife of 56 years, Lois Veihl of Tower; sons, Larry Veihl of El Cajon, California and Ron (Sherri) Veihl of Tower; daughter, Sally (Jerry) Hillis of Tower; and seven grandchildren, Erica, Melissa, and Brandon Veihl, Nicole (Josh) Leonard, Jerry (Yingli) Hillis, Nathan and Steven Hillis; as well as three great-grandchildren, Lilly, Dottie, and Steven.  Lawrence also leaves his sisters, Adeline Crowe of Bay City and Mary Arnold of Cheboygan as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service for Lawrence’s family will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery.  Elder Denise Pauly will officiate. The Onaway VFW Post will have military honors at the graveside. Mrs. Theresa Mendrick, 96, of Rogers City passed away Wednesday evening December 2, 2015 at Tendercare in Rogers City.

The daughter of Fred and Louise (Bruning) Spens was born April 30, 1919 in Rogers Township.

Surviving are a son, Gerald (Nancy) of Rogers City; two daughters, Dolores Merchant of Ocqueoc and Jeanette Williamson of Frankenmuth; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Saturday December 5, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moltke until the funeral service with the Rev. Eric Voigt offciating. Burial followed in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.hentkowskifuneral.com.

Helen Marie Greengtski, 80, of Posen, died Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Helen was born July 21, 1935 in Rogers City to John and Anastasia (Berant) Zielinski. She married Donald Greengtski June 9, 1956 in Rogers City. Mrs. Greengtski was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church in Posen. Helen is survived by her children, Kathy (Ron) Darga of Canton, Shari (Daryl) Woloszyk of Metamora and David Greengtski of Canton; grandchildren, Shannon, Ryan, Kari and Stacy; sister, Leona Hilla of Florida; and brother, Raymond Zielinski of Rogers City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Greengtski; son, Terry Greengtski; parents, John and Anastasia Zielinski; and brother, the Rev. Norman Zielinski.

Bernard Thomas “Barney” Tomas, 88, of Rogers City passed away December 14, 2015 at Alpena Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 3, 1927 in Detroit to Anthony and Cecelia (Porzondek) Tomaszewski.

Mr. Tomas is survived by his wife, Barbara; two children, Judith Sobieray of Menominee and David Tomas of Rogers City; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; stepdaughter, Audrey (Michael) Penny of Hawthorn Woods, Illinois; and two step-grandchildren.

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. where Sister Mary Michelz will lead the rosary and conduct the prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at St. Dominic Catholic Church Saturday from 9 a.m. through time of his memorial Mass at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Arthur Duchnowicz officiating.

Posen Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7804 will offer military honors following Mass.

Burial will follow at St. Dominic Catholic Cemetery.

Robert Clayton “Murph” Murphy, 63, of Rogers City passed away unexpectedly at home December 12, 2015.

He was born May 28, 1952 in Rogers City to Clayton and Lorene (Yarch) Murphy.

Bob is survived by his wife, Janice; three daughters, Tracy (Dave) Niedzwiecki, Jenney McLaren and Delaine Murphy; mother, Lorene Liedtke; three sisters, Linda (Louis) Ciarkowski, Mary (Mark) Wieber and Kathy (Bill) Yaklin; five stepchildren, Stacie (Brian) Bishop, Michael (Kristin) Glentz, Robert Glentz, Shannon (Nick) Guerra and John Glentz; and many grandchildren.

Memorial visitation will take place at the Beck Funeral Home today (Thursday) from 4 until 8 p.m. with full military honors offered by the Rogers City VFW at 7 p.m.

Visitation will resume at St. Ignatius Catholic Church Friday from 9 a.m. through time of his memorial Mass at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Sylvestre Obwaka officiating.

He was born November 17, 1947 in Alpena to Harold and Viola (Bredow) Kortman.

 

Mr. Kortman is survived by his wife, Gail; six children, Kenny Kortman, Kendra (Alan) Wolf, Amy Goldstein, Matt Crocker, Kevin (Theresa) Kortman and Kraig (Michelle) Kortman; 10 grandchildren, Alyssa, Kyle, Zachary, Stephanie, Logan, Kaitlin, Dylan, Jon, Emily and Kylie; three great-grandchildren, Landyn, Laylah and Aiden; a brother, David (Kay) Kortman; a sister, Melvina (Roy) LaPointe; a sister-in-law, Eunice Kortman; and  a brother-in-law, Joe Gabara.

Visitation was at St. John Lutheran Church Monday through time funeral with the Rev. Eric Voight officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran School in memory of Ken Kortman.

Joseph Frederick Fuhrman Sr., 73, of Rogers City passed away December 18, 2015 at Alpena Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 15, 1942 in Rogers City to Gustav and Ruby (Lee) Fuhrman.

He is survived by four children, Joseph (Dana) Fuhrman Jr. of Livonia, David (Tabitha) Fuhrman of Clear Lake, Iowa, Theresa (Lavelle) Gardiner of Redford and Gary (Jessica Vallee) of Commerce Township; 10 grandchildren, Joseph (Mary Ann) Fuhrman, Kevin (Nava) Fuhrman, Nicole (Aaron) Feys, Leah Fuhrman, Shane Fuhrman, Raven Gardiner, Daven Gardiner, Renee Gardiner, Ruby Fuhrman and Adam Vallee; three great-grandchildren, Louie, Charlie and Evey; a sister, Cheryl (Merl) Faucett; a brother, Richard Fuhrman; and special friend, Helen Ross.

Visitation was at the Beck Funeral Home Tuesday through the time of funeral with the Rev. Greg Zurakowski officiating.

Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Dubbs is survived by her husband, Paul; two children, Michael (Stephanie) Dubbs of Wixom Lake and Janelle (Jeffrey) Schmeling of Cadillac; mother, Marian Nowicki of Shelby Township; three siblings, Gregory (Pam) Nowicki of Richmond, Janice (Roger) Merriman of Suttons Bay and David (Deborah) Nowicki of Rochester Hills.

Memorial visitation will take place at St. Ignatius Catholic Church Monday, January 4, 2016 from 9 a.m. through time of her memorial Mass at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Sylvestre Obwaka officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Ignatius Catholic School or St. Ignatius Catholic School Library Fund in memory of Donna Dubbs.
