Blondyne Julia Klimek, 94, of Rogers City, formerly of Alpena, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Rogers City Tendercare.

Blondyne was born March 21, 1921 in Alpena to James and Florence (Maciezewski) Szejbach.

Blondyne is survived by her husband of 69 years, William; two daughters, Mary Sue (Richard) Wozniak of Rogers City and Rosalie Klimek of Dearborn; two granddaughters, Melissa (Mark) Azeez of Livonia and Amy (Scott) Stone of Ludington; four great-grandchildren, Holly and Ethan Azeez and Randi and Rylee Stone; two sisters, Phyllis Koppal of Shelby Township and Barbara (Richard) Dowling of Marquette; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Szejbach and Janie Szejbach, both of Alpena; brother-in-law, Edward Partyka of Rogers City; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may gather at St. Ignatius Catholic Church Friday, October 30, from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Sylvestre Obwaka officiating.

Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Alpena. Memorials may be given to St. Ignatius Catholic School or Hospice of the Sunrise Shore.

Arrangements are in care of the Beck Funeral Home.

Gerald John Chrzan

Gerald John Chrzan, 74, of Rogers City passed away October 29, 2015 at home.

He was born April 5, 1941 in Detroit.

Jerry was a 1959 graduate of Chadsey High School in Detroit. He served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Knox where he “protected the gold”. On August 21, 1965 he married Carolyn Hamilton in Ohio. They moved to Alpena then up to Grand Lake where Jerry was the Constable for several years. Jerry Retired from the Presque Isle County Sheriff’s Department in 2003 as a Sergeant. Mr. Chrzan was the first coach and instrumental in starting the softball program at Rogers City High School. He was involved with Little League and umpired high school baseball from many years including several state final games. He enjoyed deer hunting, golfing and playing Spitzer with friends at the Rogers City Servicemen’s Club.

Mr. Chrzan is survived by his wife, Carolyn; three children, Christine (Mark) Kusler of Battle Creek, Jeffrey of Clinton Township and Carrie Jo (Christopher) Soroka of Redford; five grandchildren, Kimberly Kusler, Megan Kusler, Ryan Kusler, Andrew Chrzan and Alyssa Chrzan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Gertrude (Woloszyk) Chrzan.

Memorial visitation will take place at the Beck Funeral Home Sunday, November 1 from 2 p.m. through time of his memorial service at 5 p.m. with Pastor Dale DuVerney officiating. Rogers City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 607 will accord military honors in conjunction with the Law Enforcement Honor Guard immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Rogers City Church of Christ or Presque Isle County District Library in memory of Gerald Chrzan.

Eunice Henrietta Krueger Pines

Eunice Henrietta Krueger Pines of Traverse City, formerly of Rogers City and Cleveland, Ohio went to be with her Lord Wednesday October 28, 2015. She was 92 years old.

The daughter of Esther (Cordes) and Arthur Krueger was born June 17, 1923 in Onaway, Presque Isle County.

Surviving are sons, Kurt (Diane) of Brunswick, Ohio and Brad (Carol) Pines of Troy; three grandchildren, Megan, Wilson and Madison Pines of Troy; sister–in-law, Joanne Krueger Poskey of Grand Rapids; cousins; many nieces and nephews; and grand-nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Friday, October 30, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. The funeral service was held Saturday, October 31, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City. The burial will occur in Rogers City, where Eunice will be laid to rest next to her parents, husband and son Mark. More information can be found at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com.

Raymond L. “Butch” Meyers

Raymond L. “Butch” Meyers, 81, of Posen passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015 to his heavenly home following a two-month battle with cancer.

Butch was born in Metz March 26, 1934 to Helen F. Wisniewski and Leonard F. Meyers.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Blanche; two sons, Paul (Michele) Meyers of Woodstock, Georgia and Thomas (Denise) Meyers of Posen; two daughters, Rose Ann Meyers and Judith (Mark) Romel of Posen; granddaughter and his pride and joy, Ashley E. Meyers; grandson, Adam Rose; great-grandson; Adam Rose II; step-great-grandchildren, Adam and Whitney; siblings, Alvis (Karen) Meyers of Rogers City and Adonna (Henry) Dietlin of Rogers City; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both parents; and sister, Violet Altman of Rogers City. Per his wishes Butch has been taken for cremation. In lieu of flowers suggested memorials to Posen High School Sports Boosters, Posen Fire Department/First Responders or Hospice of the Sunrise Shore in his memory.

Visitation was Friday, October 23, with the Knights of Columbus memorial service and a parish prayer service at McWilliams Funeral Home, Posen. A Memorial Mass of Resurrection was Saturday, October 24, at St. Casimir Catholic Church with the Rev. Arthur Duchnowicz officiating, inurnment immediately followed. Raymond W. Gordier, 59, of Onaway died Thursday October 29, 2015.

Surviving are his wife, Marcy Gordier of Onaway; two sons, Norman (Jessa) Gordier of Ogden, Utah and Richard Gordier of Ogden; a sister, Carol Gordier of Gaylord; two stepdaughters, Kristina (Art) Tulgestka of Onaway and Sarah (Clint) Moore of Onaway; his father-in-law, Leonard LaFave of Onaway; his former wife, Esther Gordier of Ogden; and five grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements were in care of the Chagnon Funeral Home. Ray’s family will have a private memorial service.

Roxanne Marie Peterman (Lutze)

On October 24, 2015 Roxanne Marie Peterman (Lutze), 68, passed from this life into her heavenly reward. She was born October 3, 1947 in Cheboygan.

Roxanne loved her family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Arletta Ashton ( Lutze). She is survived by her Father, Russell Lutze of Mio;  her sister, Janette Riley husband Wayne Riley of Onaway; son, David Peterman Jr.  and wife, Luana Peterman; daughter, Evelyn Lounsberry and Colin Lounsberry; and her beloved nieces, Janine Rachuba, Janice  Kowalczyk and Jerilyn Prow. Roxanne loved her nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.  Her kind, giving spirit will be missed by all who knew her. Roxanne’s celebration of life will be held in the spring.

Carol Lynn Morgan, 66, of Onaway, went to heaven to be with her Lord October 27, 2015. She was born in Cheboygan February 10, 1949 and lived in Onaway with her husband, Scott and her little dog, Bub.

She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years; her brothers, Bob (Shirley) and Bill (Dona) Crist of Cheboygan; her son, Carl Von Crist (Jessica) of West Virginia; and grandchildren, Isaac and Sophie Gardea of Washington State and Jenna Von Crist of West Virginia. She was blessed with a large, loving extended family and loved them dearly.

A memorial service with a luncheon to follow will be held at the Onaway Assembly of God Church today (Thursday, November 5) at 11 a.m. The Rev. Kamron Oberlin will officiate. Contributions in memory of Carol may be made to Hospice of Michigan (Cheboygan Area), 10850 E. Traverse Highway, Suite 1155, Traverse City, MI 49684. Ralph Lynn Baker, 86, formerly of Rogers City, died Tuesday, November 3, 2015.

He was the son of Ralph and Eva Baker and was born in Farmington November 17, 1928.

He is survived by his eight children, Daniel (Susan), Thomas (Kathy), Deborah Luskin (Ed), Mary Beth Baron (Jeff), Anne Marie Heynen (Rick), Karen Smolinski, Ralph Jr. (Virginia) and James (Julie); 32 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Betty, his wife of 50 years; two of his children, Susan Mary and Charles Frederick; his second wife, Rose Fedewa; and his two brothers, Keith and Rex.

Funeral services and internment to be held at a later date.

Donald James Belusar, 87, of Posen passed away peacefully at home November 4, 2015.

He was born March 15, 1928 in Rogers City to John and Laferka “Mary” (Szewczuk) Belusar.

Mr. Belusar is survived by seven children, Denise (Roger) Wenzel of Rogers City, Donald (Karol) of Munising, Dennis (Terri) of Rogers City, Donna (Tom) Belusar of Granger, Indiana, Dawn (Michael) Teixeira of Skaneateles, New York, David (Carol) of Rogers City and Dayna (Ron) Reasner of Rose City; 25 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren with four on the way. Don is also survived by his faithful companion Chewy.

Private family graveside services will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Sister Marian Mertz, RSM

Sister Marian Mertz, RSM (Religious Sister of Mercy), of Farmington Hills, died peacefully Thursday, November 12, 2015 at McAuley Life Center. She was surrounded by her sisters and loving staff.

She was born to Louis and Katherine (Kasubowski) Mertz August 22, 1923, in Rogers City. She is survived by two sisters, Katie Shaedig of Rogers City and Bea Skaggs of Cheboygan, as well as many nieces, nephews, colleagues and the Sisters of Mercy.

Funeral services were held at McAuley Life Center, including a welcoming service Monday, November 16, and a Scripture/Remembrance Vigil. The Mass of Resurrection was Tuesday followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. McCabe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Sisters of Mercy, 29000 West Eleven Mile Road, Farmington Hills, MI 48336.

He was born January 3, 1974 in Petoskey to Robert and Marjorie (Walker) Gertz.

Todd is survived by his mother, Marge Gertz of Millersburg; daughter, Gemma Violet Gertz; Gemma’s mother, Shayna Hudson; a sister, Kimberly Gertz-Smillie of Millersburg; nieces and nephews, Zak, Chase, Whittnie, Desiree and Destanae Smillie; and Sylvia Frattallone.

Visitation was at the Beck Funeral Home Friday.

Visitation will resumed Saturday at the North Country Baptist Church in Millersburg through the time of funeral with the Rev. James Brabson officiating.

Interment took place at the Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Onaway School System in memory of Todd Gertz.

She was born August 28, 1930 in Jackson to Russell and Isabel (Campbell) Frizzell.

Mrs. Ide is survived by four children, Sherry (Ed) Enlow of Rogers City, Burton (Sheila) Ide of Grand Ledge, Gordon (Linda) Ide of Rogers City and Nancy (Dale) Durecki of Traverse City; four grandchildren, Monica, Kristen, Andrew and Adam; a great-grandson, Joseph; a brother, Jerry Frizzell of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was at the Beck Funeral Home Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m.

Visitation resumed at Peace Lutheran Church Monday through time of her funeral with the Rev. J. Derek Riddle officiating.

Interment followed at Peace Lutheran Cemetery.

Margaret Anne Krali, 82, of Huron Beach passed away November 9, 2015 at home.  She was born in Wishaw, Scotland to Daniel and Agnes (Carswell) McMurtrie. Mrs. Krali is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Richard; four children, Dawn (Randy) Goodwin of Temperance, Cynthia (Tim) Spens of Rogers City; Richard Krali Jr. of St. Clair Shores and Thomas Krali of Roseville; five grandchildren, Katelyn and Alyson Goodwin, Jessica and Rebecca Krali, and Margaret Spens; niece, Nancy Coakley; brother, Daniel (Madelyn) McMurtrie; brother-in-law, Tom (Barb) Peace; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful companion, Robbie.

Friends may visit at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ocqueoc Saturday, Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. through time of her memorial service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lloyd Ziebarth officiating.

Mary was born in 1926 in Posen to Peter and Mary (Laseck) Kozdron.

Mary is survived by her stepbrother, Ray Jakiel; sister-in law Sophie Kozdron; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers; Frank, John, Mitchell and Joseph; and by her sisters; Florence (Cudnik) and Julie (Chrzan).

He was born June 13, 1942. In Belknap Township to Erwin and Minnie (Grambau) Fleming.

is survived by his wife, Betsy; four children, Ronald Fleming of Rogers City, Allen (Shari) Fleming of Rogers City, Brenda (Michael) Street of Posen and William (Nicole) Fleming of Traverse City; eight grandchildren, Nathan Street, Devin Street, Logan Fleming, Hannah Fleming, Lewis Fleming, Sydney Fleming, Ty Fleming and Chase Fleming; two brothers, Harry (Eleanor) Fleming and his twin, Roger Fleming both of Rogers City; two sisters, Delores Zampich of Rogers City and Diane McPhall of Traverse City; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends’ visitation and prayer service were at the Beck Funeral Home Sunday. Visitation resumed at St. John Lutheran Church Monday through time of service with the Rev. Eric Voight officiating.

Interment took place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

She was born May 31, 1961 in Rogers City to Norman and Edna (Smolinski) Quaine.

 

Simone is survived by seven siblings, Bill Quaine of Rogers City, Peg (Keith) Gordon of Rogers City, John (Cindy) Quaine of Sterling Heights, Norm (Sue) Quaine Jr. of Rogers City, Anne (Doc) Ryan of Rogers City, Matt (Jackie) Quaine of Rogers City and Joey Quaine of Rogers City; special friend, Marry Helen Harris of Bakersfield; 21 nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and nephews; and good friend, Bill W.

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home Saturday, December 26, from noon through time of her memorial service at 1 p.m.

Yvonne Styma, 92, of Posen passed away suddenly November 21 at Alpena Regional Medical Center.

The daughter of Martin and Anna (Matwiyoff) Zdybel was born May 24, 1933 in Posen.

Surviving are her husband Erwin Sr., sons Randall (Jane) Styma and Erwin (Carey) Styma II both of Posen;  daughters Ann (Jason) Marsa of Sterling Heights and Mary Styma Waner of Macomb; a brother Eugene (Norma) Zdybel of Posen; 17 grandchildren Joseph, Andrew, Rebecca, Matthew, Maria, Tania, Jeremy, Hailey, Benjamin and Jennifer Styma, Nicholas and Christopher Wagner, Jack and April Marsa, Erin and Daniel Campbell and Amy (Jason) Meller.

Visitation was Tuesday at Hentkowski Funeral Home in Rogers City. The rosary was recited by the Rosary Society followed by a parish prayer service. Visitation continued Wednesday at St. Casimir Catholic Church until the time of the funeral Mass with the Rev. Arthur Duchnowicz officiating. Burial was  at the St. Casimir Cemetery.
